We are excited to announce that we are once again partnering with Climb For Hope for two exciting expeditions in 2008!

2008 Climb For Hope Cotopaxi Expedition / January 3 - 12

There are ten volcanoes in Ecuador that rise above 5,000 meters (16,400 feet), two of which are still active. Nine of these peaks are glaciated, requiring technical mountaineering skills to ascend even their easiest routes. Ecuador is perhaps the best place in the world to develop high altitude mountaineering skills. The challenges you face here are similar to those found in all of the high mountain regions. Glacier travel, high altitude physiology, and snow climbing skills will be taught to you on your Earth Treks expedition.

2008 Climb for Hope Kilimanjaro Expedition / June 15 - 29

Kilimanjaro (19,341 feet) offers a true climbing adventure. The mountain is rugged, and its summit sits far above the infamous plains and game parks of East Africa. While the route we will travel is non-technical, the summit cap has glaciers and is at very high altitude. Kilimanjaro is the highest point on the African continent (one of the seven summits) and its summit is almost 5,000 feet higher than any point found in the contiguous United States!

Climb for Hope, a non-profit 501c(3) has a mission of finding a viable breast cancer treatment by December 2009.  We will do that by targeting our funding to the most promising research.  Therefore, we can cut through red tape and grant writing procedures and put money to effective treatment options.

In one year, we've sped up research on a very promising vaccine by 6 months.

We raise money through mountaineering expeditions.  Each climber is obligated to raise a minimum amount of money to join us.  We chose mountain climbing because of our passion and also because the participants will, although briefly, feel the physical pain of our endeavor to better understand the suffering of thousands of women endure through their treatment.

We're stepping up to fight breast cancer so thousands of women won't have to.

Sincerely,

Andrew A. Buerger, Founder
